Turkey Vulture

Common year-round resident throughout Georgetown, Williamson County, and much of Texas. Larger size, red head, soaring habit, “dihedral” v-shaped look in flight and white rear wing linings distinguish it from Black Vulture. Often mistakenly called “buzzard”. Incredible sense of smell, and highly beneficial in cleaning up dead animals from the environment.
