There is a reason why seasoned birders live in Central Texas, where East meets West and Temperate meets Tropical! Where else can you find McCown's Longspurs and Great Kiskadees, the Carolinas (Wrens + Chickadees) and black-backed Lesser Goldfinches and Roadrunners? Within striking range are Prairie Plains (with Sprague's Pipits, Dickcissels and Scissortail Flycatchers) and Hill Country Wildlands (with Golden-Cheeked Warblers, Painted Buntings and Black-capped Vireos).
